1. Global ID
Today, a variety of lot code markings and systems exist. While these have merit, they do not link across the life cycle of the world’s food supply. A new sixteen character identifier has been created to solve this. It can be self generated by the producer or manufacturer, but still identifies the lot’s origin, absolutely guarantees no lot duplication worldwide, fits in the simplest bar code, and has been mathematically proven to last globally for every lot of food produced until the year 2100.

This Global ID can be applied to all food packaging, including food contact packaging materials, bulk components and consumer products. It provides a consistent method of identification, a format that can be checked for accuracy when recorded by operators, and one that can be electronically sorted, filtered, and searched. The Global ID does not contain any confidential or proprietary information, and can be added to other record keeping and product identification as each manufacturer or producer desires.
